Leeks

The leek is a member of the onion family, but is milder than either onions or garlic. It has a thick, white stalk that is cylindrical in shape and has a slightly bulbous root end. Leeks develop broad, flat, dark green leaves that are wrapped tightly around each other like a rolled newspaper. Before using, trim rootlets and leaf ends and wash thoroughly to remove all the dirt trapped between the layers.

the Mekon loves to nibble on leeks . . . . .
